Use the fi-domain name search to check whether the domain name you want is available. You can also view the public user information for a registered domain name.
How to search
In the search field, enter the domain name without the www prefix, for example traficom.fi. The result shows whether the domain name is available or taken. <

Before you search, it is worth knowing:
- Every user is responsible for ensuring that their domain name complies with the law. ( Make sure your fi-domain name is lawful
- Check also which characters a domain name may contain. . Check here permitted characters
If the domain name is available, proceed as follows

Make sure the domain name does not infringe another party’s protected name or trade mark.
Check the public registers to confirm that the domain name you want is lawful.

Contact a registrar.
A registrar will register the domain name on your behalf. If you do not yet have an agreement with a registrar, find a suitable one in the search service.
If the domain name is taken
You can view the domain name’s public information. It also shows when the domain name is due to become available again - unless the current user renews it.
